How To Punch Up Your Wedding Weight-Loss Plan
|
You're well on your way to wedding-day fabulousness, but lately things have been a bit slow going. Without going bridezilla on the treadmill, what's a dedicated-but-stalled bride to do? Get creative, of course!
Even the most steadfast brides can use a boost every now and again in their shape-up routines. Without going overboard, here are some fun, easy, and pretty painless tips for making your routine work even better.
Sneak in additional exercise
You don't have to sign up for another cardio kickboxing class to get the results you're after. You just have to look around you and make a conscious effort in your lifestyle with small adjustments. For example, take the stairs instead of the elevator and escalator at work and at the mall. Your legs and backside, not to mention your heart, will thank you. Also, don't always compete for the closest parking spot. Parking further away will make you walk a little further and burn a few extra calories. On your lunch break, don't eat at your desk. Instead, get outside and take a nice stroll to a picnic table or bench, have your lunch, then stroll back. Or, even window shop as you munch. You'll burn a lot of what you just ate, all the while getting some fresh air and soaking up some Vitamin D from the sunshine. When you're cooking dinner, waiting for the water to boil or the meat to defrost, sneak in some curls a la your canned foods, or balance on one leg to add tone to your thighs. All these little things will add up in the end.
Add more fluids to your diet
Hydration is the key to glowing skin, and it's also great for your body. Flushing away all those impurities with some refreshing H2O not only is healthy, but keeps you feeling energized and full, so you're less likely to snack and more likely to have the energy to workout. Dehydration also leads to headaches, fatigue, and lack of concentration -- the last things you want when you need to be on your toes planning one of the most memorable days of your life. Always carry a water bottle, and if you start to get bored with plain old water, add a slice of lemon, lime, or even cucumber.
Eat healthy snacks
The up and down of sugar highs and lows is one of the worst roller coasters a bride can ride - as well as the enemy of a stable metabolism and saboteur of a diet. Instead of reaching for a few cookies here and there when hunger hits (making you feel good for 15 minutes and then leaving you in sugar shock hangovers for the rest of the afternoon), treat yourself to some healthy and yummy snacks like fresh fruit and veggies. Not only will you feel better you'll notice the difference in your skin too. Most of us turn to junk food because it's quick, so keep stocked up on pre-washed carrots, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and the like, and don't even bother buying junk food. When you have something healthy to reach for with no alternatives in sight trying to lure you to their sugary dark side, you'll end up eating what's in front of you.
Try a supplement
Even the most dedicated fitness and diet gurus know that it's nearly impossible to get all of your required vitamins and nutrients by food alone, which is where supplements come in. While they should not be used as a replacement for a healthy diet, supplements can help fill in nutritional gaps. There are even supplements such as unique, natural acids and enzymes on the market that when used with a sensible eating and exercise plan may contribute to additional weight loss and reduction in body fat. And as always, be sure to check with your doctor before taking any supplement, as well as making any major changes to your diet and fitness plans.
