Michelle and Michael Page
March 12, 2006
Rosarito, Mexico
Michael and Michelle dated for three years in college, where Michael played on the basketball team and Michelle performed on the dance team. Although they parted ways when Michael moved to Northern California, they ended up reconnecting eight years later.
During Easter weekend, Michael took Michelle to the park for a romantic picnic and Easter egg hunt. After sending her around to retrieve plastic eggs, Michael presented the engagement ring in a special egg that he had tucked away in the picnic basket. He asked her to be his wife, and through tears of joy, she said "yes."
The couple decided on a destination wedding at Las Rocas Resort and Spa in Rosarito, Mexico. They had attended a friend's wedding there before and fell in love with the location and attentive staff. It was perfect because it allowed them to have their dream tropical wedding without making their guests travel too far.
Michelle and Michael chose their theme based on a combination of their favorite things -- music, travel, and the ocean. The outdoor ceremony overlooked the ocean and incorporated sunny colors that brightened the whole affair. They hired a mariachi band to play during the cocktail hour, while the guests enjoyed local fare, such as margaritas, guacamole and quesadillas. At the reception, each table held a picture of the couple at one of their favorite travel destinations. For the final touch, the cake was decorated with starfish, white shells, and bright orange lilies!
