Michelle Roberts and Paris Borden
May 13, 2006
Washington, DC
Six months after Michelle Roberts caught the admiration of Paris Borden's eye at a restaurant, Paris wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Michelle unexpectedly came home for lunch, and found Paris decorating the house with flowers and balloons in an attempt to surprise her. Though his plan to surprise her in the afternoon came sooner than expected, he went ahead and made Michelle's lunch hour the happiest it could ever be by asking her to be his wife.
The ceremony was officiated by Paris' childhood reverend at Grace Lutheran Church. The couple's favorite aspect of the ceremony included the playing of classical music, and the duet performance of The Prayer which brought the bride to tears. A reception followed in an elegant ballroom at The Westin Embassy Row. The decor gave a vibrant tropical feel with the incorporation of lush floral arrangements of calla lilies, orchids, hydrangeas and anthereums in the shades of orange and green, luxurious linens, and dramatic lighting. In homage to the bride's roots in the West Indies, the reception featured music from a reggae/calypso band and also boxes of traditional West Indian black cake and fruit cake were given as wedding favors. All together the wedding was elegant, romantic, meaningful, and festive.
