Born in Philadelphia, and educated at Drexel University and the Nesbit School of Arts, Victoria McMillan is the talented young designer behind the romantic Alvina Valenta Couture Collection.
Soon after completing her education in Philadelphia, McMillan found her first design job on the staff of well-known bridal designer Christos, where she remained for two years.
In 1990, McMillan introduced her own small Alvina Valenta collection, named for her beloved grandmother, Alvina Valentina Kleshick. McMillan began by designing gowns for friends, showcasing her creations for bridal magazine editors and store buyers. BRIDE'S magazine fashion editor Rachel Leonard, and former editor-in-chief Barbara Tober were two of McMillan's first enthusiastic supporters, and often featured her initial designs in magazine editorials.
Prestigious retailers I. Magnin and Kleinfelds Bridal Shop were the first to introduce the Alvina Collection to brides everywhere.
