Black Is Black
Shades of white may continue to dominate the bridal runway, but Audrey Hepburn's favorite shade is making an appearance this season. Subtle sashes and accents in black are all the rage, adding a crisp, dramatic contrast to classic whites. Anne Barge doubled up on trends with a one-shouldered ebony strap in delicate lace that also accents the neckline. Who says nothing is ever black and white?
Great Lengths
Our favorite nod to yesteryear is a pretty rise in hemlines that is perfect for spring. Sensual and sweet at the same time, the 50s inspired look couples ladylike primness with a flash of lovely legs that is undeniably sexy. No one does a vintage feel quite like Romona Keveza, who didn't disappoint with a flirty bubble skirt accented by long sleeves and a cut-out back. The 50s have never looked cooler.
Taking The Plunge
Exposed shoulders and revealing cleavage are all benefits of one of the most popular necklines of the season - the plunging one. Sure, strapless gowns show plenty of skin, but there's something so daring (and flattering) about a plunging front and bare back matched with a voluptuous skirt made of acres of silk. Christos does daring beautifully this spring with all of the above.
Bell Of The Ball
After holding the spotlight on strapless gowns for more than a decade, designers had something special up their sleeves for spring - bells sleeves. The romantic design was showcased in various lengths and styles, from the clean, tight look of Jim Hjelm's lace, to Christos' nod to the Victorian era. Whether it's streamlined and slim, or lush and flowing, we love the dreamy look for weddings.
Undercover
For brides who want the best of both worlds, designers packed the catwalks with a variety of cover ups. Long sleeves, short sleeves, lace, and chiffon all kept shoulders and arms under wraps with the option of being stripped off later to reveal a strapless gown underneath. Ideal for a demure church wedding followed by a party of epic proportions, the two-piece gown was masterfully done by Lazaro.
