Should you divide chores or just do as much as you can, when you can? Each couple needs to review whether cleaning, cooking and taking out the trash, for example, are negotiable items and how they get done. Sometimes one partner will take over all the chores, with the understanding that the other partner supports their life together in different ways. This arrangement may not work for you, and if you feel that the chores are better shared so that neither partner feels resentful, then make a plan. Sometimes men think that women should be primarily responsible for cooking and housekeeping. If this is not for you, early on make sure those roles don't develop. Discuss what will be fair for the two of you and watch one another to make sure you stay on track.
